According to Ray Wylie Hubbard, the secret to his success is he “never learned to do anything else.” All he wanted to do was play music, and with no other options, he had to figure it out. Griffin Winton never learned to do anything else either.
All the middle Tennessee native ever wanted to do was play music, and this has led him all over the country and beyond: from his Nashville debut at Music City Roots in 2013 with alt-country outfit MidDay Farm Report to countless stages as a side musician for some of Nashville’s finest.
As a solo artist, Griffin explores grungy southern rock, rootsy lyricism, and open-minded indie experimentation. Whether throwing down off-the-chart bends on juke grooves and bandstand standards or penning insightful, fresh lyrics over tunes all his own, Griff’s music is sure to have something for everyone.
Equally at home in classics, as he is the avant-garde, his live show ranges from intimate moments to electrifying peaks. And as he’s always curious about what’s around the next bend, he is sure to keep the audience (and possibly the whole band) on the edge of their seats.
